Hope Sabbath School Study

Hope Sabbath School Study is an hour long weekly video or audio podcast that is also on the Hope TV channel. It is in-depth Bible study of one book or one theme over the course of about a dozen episodes at a time. The host (Dr. Derek Morris) acts as teacher, and a group of diverse young adults read passages and dialog about them. This format works very well, and brings plenty of interesting perspectives. The Hope Channel and this series is provided by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. However, after several months of viewing, I haven’t noticed any push for Adventist-specific doctrines. It’s just deep, rock solid Bible Study, and one of the best I’ve found.

Renewing Your Mind with R.C. Sproul is one of the more popular bible-oriented radio shows (with an audio podcast). Sproul covers a fair amount of technical theology and philosophy, but brings it down to Earth with personal stories and analogies. He is certainly a compelling speaker that commands attention. Listeners should note that Sproul is an ardent advocate of Calvinism, and his teachings have a strong bias in that direction at times.

What better place to start a bible study podcast review site than with… the Bible Study Podcast? The Bible Study Podcast features host Chris Christensen, who provides a weekly audio show looking at scripture from a Christian point of view. Chris reads the passages and adds in some historical background, context, and a bit of interpretation. The tone is refreshingly down-to-earth and can appeal to any level of Christian understanding.

Christian podcasts are a great supplement to my bible study. They are especially convenient during the work commute, as well as home chores like shoveling snow or washing the car. The question is, how do you find the good ones? It is frustrating to search through huge lists that are all over the place in terms of quality and bible-orientation. The podcast list on this site will not be complete or exhaustive. The goal is to provide brief reviews of high quality shows focusing on enriching your life through study of the Bible.
